just a quick note

Morning all,
Just a quick post, we had a cool change and easterly winds come in yesterday and is it very pleasantly cool here today, so if I get all my paper work and other jobs done today, hopefully I will get some time out in my heat exhausted garden, but I have a garden

The response to the care packages/sanity savers is wonderful and Ihope all you lovely people out there will continue to respond. I have a feeling that I am gaining the most out of this, as I am sure I am making some wonderful, beautiful friends out there in blogland, really looking forward to this.

Just a little housekeeping, there have been some emails coming through with noreplycomment, so I have been unable to reply, so please could you make sure that you put your email address on your email to me, much appreciated., thanks.

Rachel in Belguim could you please email me again.

Once again what a wonderful world this bloggy world is and thank you all,
Love Lorraine

CRAFTY PARCELS, CONT'D FROM YESTERDAY

Morning all,
We have been inundated (sp, correct word?) with smoke from the bushfires, so I can only imagine how bad it is in Vic.
Further to my post yesterday, here is a list of some of the items that I am sure these ladies would appreciate. Remembering that there are 181 deaths, with many more to be notified, losses of upwards of 800 homes, many businesses, schools, shops, churches, etc and other infractstructure such as electiricty, phones, gas etc. a mamoth and long job of replacing fising etc this will take years.
Thanking you all in advance for you help and loving gestures to these people.
Please email me for my address, or just send the parcel to Lorraine Hunt c/- Parkes Post Office,NSW 2870
Love and Hugs
Lorraine

Now the list, remember that you can just forward something like a fat 1/4 or some needles and pins, just what you can afford, have in excess to your needs, or what you WANT to send.

needles,
pins,
scissors,
cutters,
mats (maybe a bit difficult)
fabrics, fat 1/4's etc
wadding
pellons
quilters muslin - for quilts and embroidery
embroidery threads etc
sewing cottons etc
patterns
books
other notions
quilting/craft magazines
" " books

knitting needles
crochet hooks
wool
cotton

other craft supplies for eg scrapbooking, stamping etc

garden books/magazines
seeds, but these won't be needed for a while.

Just a list that I thought of, but please send whatever you can

Cheers

CRAFTY PARCELS FOR VIC BUSHFIRE WOMEN

Hello , I have been missing in action for a long time, or maybe just plain lazy at posting posts.
However, with the terrible events of the bushfires happening in Victoria over the past few days, I have been moved to do something constructive, (as well as donating cash to the Red Cross), so I have come up with the idea that, we bloggers, who are involed/do/ love crafts, gardening etc, could all get together and donate goods so that the many quilters, crafters. gardeners etc, will have some of lifes little goodies so that they can have some crafty therapy.
As we all know these wonderful people who have suffered so much over this period of time and who will continue to have a difficult time of it for a long while to come, the last thing that they will be buying will be the supplies to give themselves some crafty therapy, which can also be soul and mind therapy as well.
I have already contacted Tracy, ozquiltingmum.blogspot wo see if she and maybe some other people that she knows will be our Vic contact liasion person/people.
I will be quite happy to have the goods sent to me and I will forward them on (hoping that some local transport co. will take same, as they have already announced that they will take clothing etc.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are able to help in any way, remembering that these people have lost everything, and that women/mothers will put their families needs before their own, so we will be able to provide these "sanity savers" .
Please do not hesitate to contact me, my email is: maunderscorepabarneyathotmaildotcom.
Cheers and Hugs,
Lorraine

family, christening, birthdays etc

I have been missing in action, health has not been good, and I didn't get a very good report at my last diabetes clinic, Dr not happy, so will have to pull up my socks and see what I can do, mainly more exercise, so much more walking etc will be happening.
Plenty of birthdays have been happening in our family, 3 sons, 2 SILs, 1DIL, 3 grandies, and mine, plus it is our anniversay this Fri, 38 years, wow.
I am so far behind with the families gifts, making them but will catch up in the next week or 2, and this weekend 1 of my little grandson's is being christened, so today I am washing the christening gown and making the chocolate mud cake for the christening cake, just have to check how many guests so that I make a large enough one. we have already made a lot of the finger food, just dips to make on the day.
We have been doing more work on our home, these past few weekends, still a long way to go but getting there.
My garden has been reasonably productive, we are picking silverbeet, self sown carrots, beetroot is ready and I have a lot of onions planted as well as leeks and some cabbages, cauliflowers etc.
We still have kumera (orange sweet potato) that is under a plastic house to harvest. earlier we harvested 3 wheatbags full of potatoes. We are also picking rhubarb yummo.
My sewing lurgy seems to be continuing, unfortunately, but I have been doing some knitting, dishcloths, for pressies, swaps, and for me, and beanies for the men's birthday pressies. I have also been doing a little bit of stitchery, but have yet to get anything finished in that area.
I still have to work out how to down load photos, so that I can share things of interest, with you.
Rhonda Jean on her blog, the last few days has been talking about her budget, and how they are coping and what they will be doing to address this problem caused by the ever rising costs of petrol/fuel, which is then flowing on with the ever increasing costs of food. Interesting reading and the comments are also of interest.
We will be refining our budget over the next few weeks, so that could be interesting, as we still need to purchase quite a few things to finish our home.
In to days posts she listed things that she is thankful for, so here are some of mine
My husband,
My children
Their husbands/wives
Our beautiful grandchildren
Our home
Our garden
our acres
our sheep - who provide us with lamb to eat
our chooks (chickens), who provide us with eggs and meat
our cows, whose calves we sell to help cover costs,
our lives together
friends
blogs
sewing, quilts etc
and to many more
Oh what a long rambling post, I think that I do tend to waffle
Oh and I also need to learn how to link? blogs
Thank you to the first people to comment on my blog and I hope to see you back here again
Cheers

Well, here I am

Well I have finally started my blog, after a lot of procrastinating, now where do I go from here, I wonder if I have anything to say and show that people out there in blogland want to read and or see.
Hopefully this will be a journey that you and I will enjoy.
I have so much to learn about this thing called blogging, have to learn how to do photos, (probably should learn how to take a decent photo first) all this computer speak with downloading, uploading etc etc.
so now that I have a blog I now have to learn how to do these things, so here comes a big learning journey for me.
Please come along with me on this journey as I learn computers and show and tell you something of my life and interests.
Cheers
